Is sensory overload a problem?

We've realized that in today's world sensory overstimulation is a very real problem, and the younger generations are actively seeking ways to turn off the constant stream of information coming at them from every direction during most waking moments. Today, people are drawn to the potential of darkness and silence.

Sensory Overload happens when too much sensory stimulus is occurring at once — it can be triggered by a crowded room, a TV turned up too loud, strong aromas, fluorescent lighting — or a hundred other things. It’s often associated with certain diagnoses like autism, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia,, PTSD and more, although anyone can experience it. Sensory overload can be overwhelming, scary and exhausting, and may require a person to separate him or herself from a situation, perform a calming ritual like Flotation Therapy, without having to use Pharmaceutical Drugs.

Arrive & Check-in

We ask that you please rinse in the showers without soap to rinse off any residue. You should enter the tank completely nude, if you'd like ear plugs are provided. Enter and close the door behind you. Remember to relax your neck and loosen all your muscles. After 1 hour and a half, a soft music will begin to play and you will wake from your restful state. Rinse the salt water off and do not reopen the tank as it is in a cleaning process at this point.

Safety recommendations: If you have any of the following conditions, you should not float:

  • You have had your hair colored (bleach is okay) recently or a spray tan. The recommended wait time is 10 days. This will ensure that the tank solution will not discolor your hair, and your hair or spray tan will not discolor our solution.

  • You have a new tattoo. The recommended wait time is four weeks.

  • You have epilepsy that is not medically controlled and supervised.

  • You are in your first trimester of pregnancy.

  • Women who are on their Menstrual Period

  • You have an infectious disease or large cuts or open wounds.

Floating is safe and beneficial for virtually everyone.  If you have any concerns about your ability to float safely, please check with your doctor.
